Zunerama ZK500 Review

Posted by David Tucker in "Zune News" @ 08:22 AM

http://www.zunerama.com/zune-access...icker-zk500.php

“Available in May 2008, Kicker touts this system as the "loudest and most innovative stereo system available for your Zune". After a day of poking, prodding, and playing the ZK500, we can attest to its ability to rock the house - and that combined with its impressive feature set earns it our "Recommended by Zunerama" rating.”

Harvey over at Zunerama was very impressed by the ZK500 speaker dock. After reading through the review and watching the video I can certainly understand why. I’ve thought of getting a dock for my Zune since I don’t plan on setting up a full stereo everywhere I am in my house and this one definitely looks like it can push out the sound! Even through the YouTube video you can tell that it delivers very strong performance.

The styling of the speaker is a different story. Harvey likes it but I think it looks about as loud as the music it delivers. While I wouldn’t mind sticking this in my garage to use while I wash the car it just doesn’t look like anything I’d like to have sitting on a shelf. The $350 price tag is a bit steep for me too but from the sounds of it, if you’re an audiophile, this is a good choice.

(Ha, I came to put this up and saw Jason just got his in. Go check out Harvey’s review as an appetizer for his!)

Zune Scene Review of Hi-Fi Speaker Dock Solution

Posted by Aaron Roma in "Zune Accessories" @ 12:41 PM

http://www.zunescene.com/VAF/

"The Octavio 1 is currently in a field of it's own as the only high end Zune speaker dock on the market. The Australian based company VAF Research has a long history of making speakers for component audio systems and has brought it's experience to the table as a Designed for Zune official partner."

Zune Scene reviews the Hi-Fi speaker dock, Octavio 1, from VAF Research. At $500, I definitely don't have much need for a high-end dock solution. I have plenty of other options for playing my tunes at home. But if you are in the market for a speaker dock solution, Octavio 1 is definitely worth a look.

Gear Diary Reviews the Altec Lansing M604

Posted by Darius Wey in "Zune Accessories" @ 09:45 AM

http://www.geardiary.com/?p=2092

"One of the first things I realized after getting my Zune was that although listening to it through a premium set of earphones was nice, there were going to be plenty of times when I wouldn’t want to hear my music that way. Times when I would want to hear it playing over a better sounding system than the craptastic speakers on my laptop. Figuring out how I was going to accomplish this became my goal, because the fact of the matter is that there is a certain other digital music player that currently enjoys most of the after-market accessory love from all of the premium music dock companies. That’s why I was very interested when I saw the announcement that Altec Lansing - one of those premier music dock companies - would be producing a M604 Powered Audio System specifically for the Microsoft Zune."

Gear Diary's Judie Hughes has just reviewed the Altec Lansing M604 Powered Audio System for the Zune. At $199.95 (or slightly lower, if you shop around), you can expect great sound and great looks, so if money is no object, you may want to consider one of these beasts as an accessory.

CES 2007: Memorex Wireless Zune Shower Speaker, Cradle

Posted by Damion Chaplin in "Zune Accessories" @ 02:00 PM

http://www.cliczune.com/2007/01/ces_2007_mzw210.html#more

"The speaker uses 2.4Ghz wireless technology and should be interference-free. The specs says 100 feet range but like any of those specs you can divided by at least 2 to get real life experience. As we mentioned, the speaker is waterproof and designed to be used in wet environments. The speakers should be JI56 compliant and are not recommended to be submerged under water. A cool feature is you can pair up to four wireless speakers with a base station – at the touch of a button! The speaker should also come with a wireless remote that will operate the Zune and speaker system functions."

This is one of those 'would be' cool products. That is, it 'would be' cool if I were into shower radios. It 'would be' cool if they could release it at a decent price. Somehow I doubt that though. So tell, me, shower listeners, does this interest you?

JBL Zune Speaker Dock at CES 2007

Posted by Damion Chaplin in "Zune Accessories" @ 06:00 PM

http://www.zune-online.com/news/zune/ces-2007-jbl-dock-for-zune.html

"JBL will be releasing a new dock speaker system for Zune in some months. Although it has not been officially announced you can take a look at it in a photo from San Fransisco's CES 2007 below... "

Almost nothing is known about this new product, except that it has an integrated Zune dock and comes in brown. I'll go out on a limb and venture that we won't see ads for these in the trains replacing the iPod ads...

VAF Octavio 1 on Amazon

Posted by Darius Wey in "Zune Accessories" @ 10:45 AM

http://www.amazon.com/Research-Octavio-Speaker-System-Player/dp/B000KGN5KQ/sr=8-1/qid=1167947766/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-6545429-6744904?ie=UTF8&s=electronics

"Timed to coincide with the release of Microsoft's Zune media player, the Octavio 1 speaker system fills your home or office with pure, powerful music and movie sound. The Octavio's central feature is the built-in Zune cradle along the top, which both charges the media player and sends its audio and video signals to the amplifier for audible playback. The Octavio 1's video output, meanwhile, connects directly to a TV, so you can enjoy your Zune photos and videos on the big screen without running additional cables across the floor. And when you're not listening to or watching your Zune, you can connect the Octavio 1 to a DVD player, video game console, or other video source. In short, the Octavio 1 serves as an integrated, high-end entertainment system that makes everything from music to movies to games sound rich and robust."

The "Designed for Zune" Octavio 1 speaker system from Australian company, VAF, is on Amazon and available for order (shipping soon) on a first come, first served basis. There's a lot of power under the hood, but at a hefty price: $499.99 USD a pop. Any of you considering picking one up?
