Duran Duran Podcast Coming to Zune

Posted by Adam Krebs in "Zune Media" @ 10:30 AM

Those Duran Duran fans out there (you know who you are) will be pleased to hear that your favorite not-quite-dead 80s pop band is launching a video podcast exclusively through Zune Marketplace. The series explores the making of Red Carpet Masacre and its first single, Falling Down. Additionally, episode six of the currently ten-part series features a Zune-exclusive interview with keyboardist Nick Rhodes about the original concept, how they got to working with Timbaland, and the creative process.

One thing I noticed about Duran Duran's Zune Social page was the inclusion of a tour description and dates. Up to this point I've only seen tour details on pages for On the Road artists, but I'd like to see it expanded to other currently touring artists who are in the Social database. It'd be cool to have the ability to put shows I'm attending or have recently seen on my Social page, and have the ability to get recommendations based on my music habbits. But maybe this is encroaching a little too much on the iLike scene...

Heroes Podcast Exclusive on Zune Marketplace, Debuts Tomorrow

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Zune Media" @ 04:05 PM

"In anticipation of the upcoming release of the “Heroes” soundtrack album from NBC Universal, "Heroes" executive producer and director Allan Arkush has crafted five unique music video podcasts that will be exclusively available for free download on Zune Marketplace. Each video short features exclusive edits of "Heroes" footage set to select tracks from the album. Nada Surf's "Weightless" provides the soundtrack to the first video, which debuts February 29 on Zune Marketplace and MSN (http://tv.msn.com). Four additional music video podcasts will roll out on Zune Marketplace leading up to the album's release on March 18. The podcasts will feature the exclusive new releases “He's Frank” by Brighton Port Authority featuring Iggy Pop, “Not Now But Soon” by Imogen Heap and “Keeping My Composure” by The Chemical Brothers featuring Spank Rock, as well as “Man In The Long Black Coat” by Bob Dylan. "Heroes" fans can collect all five and easily sync them to their Zune portable media player to watch on the go."

If you're a Heroes fan (and I count myself among that group), this will definitely interest you - the music on Heroes has always been quite unique and compelling. Want to subscribe with your Zune software? Hit this link. Full press release after the break. Read more...

Weather Podcasts

T-Bone (a.k.a. Ted Borel) has an idea: he wants to bring weather forecasts to Zune—sort of. His idea is to use Weather.com's thrice-daily updated mp3 podcast and feature a picture of the current conditions as the album art. Right now, only Houston is functioning, but Ted says he plans to add more as users request it and ultimately host the whole business at ZuneWeather.com and Zune-Weather.com. Eventually, the site will serve the content dynamically, enabling the user to enter a few basic details to get their personal RSS feed. Until that time, post your thoughts in the thread.
