Limited Edition Zune : Joy Division

Posted by David Tucker in "Zune News" @ 11:00 AM

“Microsoft is readying a Joy Division edition of its Zune MP3 player to coincide with the June 10 release of an eponymous DVD about the band. The Joy Division Zune will feature an adaptation of the cover art from the band's 1979 debut, Unknown Pleasures, which artist Peter Saville created using a graph of one hundred pulses from pulsar CP 1919 (apparently the first radio pulsar ever discovered).”

In case you weren’t sure, that’s the album cover from the 1979 album. I’ve actually never heard of Joy Division before so I went and found them in the marketplace to give a listen while I wrote this up. If you’re a fan of the band then this should be a great way to celebrate their upcoming 30th anniversary. And if you’ve never heard them before, go give them a listen!

Limited Edition Zune: Allen Iverson

“Reebok & Zune have teamed up for the first time to bring you a limited edition Allen Iverson sneaker - the Answer XI Zune. This partnership between Reebok and Zune brings together two things important to AI in his life - basketball and music. Reebok has produced 60 pairs of a special version of Iverson's latest Reebok signature shoe - the Answer XI. For this limited-edition collection, the Answer XI has been designed featuring the Zune logo.”

It’s too bad they’re only doing a few of these since the shoes actually look really good. I would say if you’re an AI fan, though, this is almost a must have set. The Zune itself will be very unique and full of AI clips and commercials. With only 60 of these hitting the street I would go out on a limb and say that they’ll have some real value down the road too as AI is a great player. So if you live within driving distance of any of the five stores that they’re going to be selling these at, definitely try and get one of these sets! At $300 for a pair of Reeboks and the Zune player, that’s actually not an unfair price at all.

Another Contest: Zune Christmas Cards and Zune Thoughts Micro Lights

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Zune Events" @ 11:00 AM

OK people, I've got more prizes to give away: the Zune from last week was just the beginning! These next few contests are going to be happening much faster, so be sure to keep an eye out for them. Last week I received an interesting surprise from the Zune team: along with my Zune review unit (full disclosure: they're letting me keep it, so now I have two for wireless testing) I received some very cool Zune Christmas cards! Check 'em out.

Also, recently I received my order of Zune Thoughts micro lights. These are the made by Roadwired, and the lights are awesome - I opted for a black shell with a blue LED light. Just like the black Zune with the blue doubleshot. They look pretty damn slick if I do say so myself.

It got me thinking, Christmas cards are meant for sharing, and I wanted to give away a few of these new micro lights. So here's the contest: post a message in this thread telling me one thing you enjoy about the Christmas season (family time, presents, the generosity of people around you, etc.. If you don't celebrate Christmas, just tell me one thing you like about the month of December wherever you happen to live. ;-)

I'm going to randomly draw twelve (count 'em 12!) names and each will receive a limited edition Zune Christmas card, with a personal message from me, along with a Zune Thoughts micro light. I want to get these out before Christmas, so this contest will be over on Friday the 22nd, sometime around noon. Start posting gang!
